Secondary Glazed Window Systems

Secondary Glazing

All secondary units are made to measure
  • Aluminium
  • Non thermally broken
  • Face or Side fixing options

Secondary glazing is a cost effective way of improving heat retention and noise reduction. It can be manufactured to suit most window types and applications. It provides an easy solution to combat drafts and noise pollution without the upheaval and cost of new windows. Secondary glazing is also an ideal solution to the problems that arise in listed and protected buildings where replacement windows are not an option. To achieve the best performance from a secondary unit they must be located at least 2 inches from the primary window. This will provide a high level of thermal and acoustic insulation. The secondary units come as standard in white (to BS 4842) or base alloy (silver anodised to BS 1615 – 1972)) but can be powder coated to a standard RAL or BS colour of your choice.

We offer a range of secondary units comprising:

• Horizontal sliding – 2/3/4 panel
• Vertical sliding sash with integral balance springs
• With the option of tilt in for cleaning purposes (non standard)
• Fixed pane
• Lift out

We can supply and fit a key operated plunger lock to the horizontal sliding units to provide added security. The lock fits into a hole drilled in the glass.

The secondary units can be glazed in:

• 4mm clear/obscure - float/toughened
• 6mm clear/obscure - float/toughened
• 6.4mm clear laminated safety glass

Design Features
  • Cross section – The slim design gives a neat attractive interior appearance.
  • Removable panels – The sliding and lift out panels are designed to be light and easy to remove for cleaning and maintenance purposes.
  • Aluminium composition for long life.
